cookie cut ladies and the orders by the dozen (men wants woman like a woman wants her dress, tight and made to fit)

sometimes im crazy too. this is martha. this is from late schoolyear. it was a battle to get her mother to let me use this image in my portfolio. heh.

um so yeah. all caught up etc. and yes, she is wearing dress patterns, used in sewing clothing.

for some reason this fuels my anger towards shovenistic men. Anyway, I love love love the colors. I love the lighting and the composition. I think I've felt like she does in this piece before.

It's a very strong image and every time my roving gaze passes across her lips my brain goes, "ow, ow, ow..." The dummy in the background and the dress patterns are nice touches, giving the image more depth. I keep wishing there was a bit more light on her face but that might reduce the impact. Ow.

Have you ever looked at your hand as a collection of atoms?

A lot of times I feel your work is too much for me, like I need to keep going back to it over & over before I even feel comfortable looking at it. This is NOT an insult!! And I hardly ever comment (probably closer to NEVER) because it is always so awe-inspiring. Your ideas and the way you present them are so professional. This image I  because I feel close to what you are trying to say. Every detail in this image pulls your message together even better - like sewing an idea...:giggle: Anyway, this is fantastic

We spend our days, each one of us, in looking for the secret of life. Well, the secret of life is in art.-Oscar Wilde

see, thats what is so weird about me... chauvinism doesnt bother me much. or let me rephrase that... i am not a feminist. and some images i make seem to feature strong women but that is just becuase i believe that there are strong men and strong women and both have a decent chance at being something. my art teacher was like 'omg thats so feministic i love it!' and i wanted to gag. i just find the idea of a perfect women (actually, probably because i deal with weight issues etc) to be humourous. imagine if you and i were disgustingly similar? or all lived in stepford...haha

"Oh, the cleverness of you..."
:icongutterpansy:
fuck perfection. i love this, love it.
:iconnightwhispers:
ahh yes, the stepford wives. scary thought. I'm a feminist in the sense that I believe everyone is equal (which is I guess true feminism as opposed to the "I hate men" stereotypical thought of feminism). It's the idea of being a woman who doesn't have any opinions and lives to 'serve her man' that bugs me. I got the impression of a woman who doesn't speak her mind with the girl's mouth being sewn shut. Of course I can also see her being a woman who's really good at withstanding interrogation. ;)
