The Ocean Takes At Whim

err. so heres the story. read it.

I take normal art classes, and in a sense, I have to take them in order to do photo classes. So. In these normal art classes I have to do painting, sketching, etc... and for one of my last pieces of the year I had to combine screenprinting (the red ribbons, yellow eye tracings, brown prickle-flowers), collage/layering (all the blue stuff), and then two mediums of my choice...which were ink and photography. The tapestry fringe is a long story... made short, when you hang it on a wall, it makes a sort of creepy frame and the pattern sewn into each block (purposely left unhemmed so it would unravel a bit) is similar to the flowers I screenprinted onto the piece, just more orderly.

to be honest, I really did not want to do this piece at all. I didn't want to do the project and I fought against it but in the end...this became an experiment and though standing alone it looks rather silly, the ideas I got from it may expand into some real fun projects.
