"I Fear No True Return for My Adonis" = full title.

Here is Persephone, symbol of the horrific concept of eternal life and vitality - never to truly return to her Adonis, for she is bound to Hades by a seed; she is rooted to an unforgiving ground for one season of three that make up each year she must spend never having the chance to escape life.

runon sentence. eternal life... think about why i chose a young girl rather than a young woman.. or an incredibly lovely woman...etc...
haha. my backdrops are never perfectly even even if i think there are no dents! oh well. so dont even complain about the backdrop not being perfectly even as the same color... also, i know its not perfectly symmetrical but im letting it slide for once for certain reasons...

you can tell in the real version that there is substance dripping from her lips, sorry that this version is not big enough for you to try to check what that substance is. haha. think about it.

my sister has the most amazing eyes. im jealous, really.

much thanks to *dr-bipolar who was observing me shoot today... those are his scary hands as Hades ...hehe...

props to my wonderful mother, too, for being one of the most intelligent beings on this earth. normally i don't let her influence shoots but today was a nice intervention.

later I will type out the full story of Persephone for you, so check back.

in the meantime, anyone interested in some workshops about color usage or makeup in photography? eh? eh? not sure if id do it online with a video feed or just in person...hrm...

oh, and i dedicate this to kimmy... ~ aircrash she may have this pomegranate if it keeps long enough in my fridge.

Scary, but so amazingly cool. Love the colours. Looks like you put a lot of work into this. Well done. :)

The true value of art lies in the emotional effect created.
I, am, also, known, as, neom.

sweet! absolutely fabulous. Your sis is scary looking! the eyes....freaky! but over all good. I think the dents in the backdrop make it seem better. But that's just my opinion. Very good over all.

Wow. Its true your sister does have beautiful eyes and always full of unique expressions. I like the background colour you used here a lot. And those hands are easy to overlook first then when you do they are a big part of this image! :) This is amazing work. No wonder you're one of my top favourites here.

Wow. This is an amazing piece, my dear! I come back after a long hiatus to find that you've not only improved immensely, but have also produced some of the best work I've ever seen. This makes me feel even more inadequite as a photographer now, lol.

I love the use of colors in this. And your theme is quite refreshing from a lot of art I've recently seen. Excellent work! :)

"Persephone!" is what I said when I saw the thumbnail.
*scratches that idea off her list for shoot on Thursday*

Love the use of a young girl as opposed to older - eternalness, the cycle of the seasons..

Paper backgrounds are.. fun!

If you wanted to go the symbolism route, you could argue that the lack of symmetry is due to the imbalance she is feeling - why would things be perfectly centered and balanced, when she has been tied to dwell in hell for a season each year?

Is it paint on his hands? They just look so deeply dark and a bit sparkly.

Her expression is interesting. I'm not sure how to read it.. Something akin to trying to fight the seductive taste of the pomegrante / hades himself, but perhaps that's just my mind being a nut. All I remember of Persephone herself from mythology in grade ten was that she was completely under Hades' will and could do nothing, save wait for her mother to convince Hades to 'release' her. However, the text we used was from the 1950s, so it may have been.. biased :|

Great use of focal length and depth of field. Nice color and contrast with the wordrobe and black hands (painted i assume?) against the background.

I'd be interested to know whether your family is willing to pose for you or if there is some sort of bribery involved. I know everyone in my house looks at me like an idiot when i ask them.

Great image.
:iconmarcyintellect:
well. george (:devdr-bipolar) was there so he witnessed the showyoffy uncooperative ways of one sister for a different shoot... and then the super professional cooperative ways of this sister. haha. usually i dont have to bribe. its just getting them away from homework that takes effort... haha yes, homework! ahh! how the world has changed since I was 12.

if i have to bribe.... i use chocolate or a 5. jhaha.

awesome composition and detail. your colors are always perfect, so i won't comment on those. but like ~Scottua said, nice use of depth of field ... love the arms coming toward the camera.

ahhh hades' hands are SCARY! :scared: < ---don't know if that's an emoticon or not...
:iconhexentanz:
this is really scary, and awesome i can't help but stare at it, i really love the colors in this and think you did an awesome job with the hands... there is also an amazing depth to this photo..

i have one question though, did you want to potray something specific with the black smudges on her arms and a bit on her thumb or? because if not the picture would have looked more clean wihout the smudges.. it kind of destroys the illusion of the black skin on the hands holding her.. i dunno call me dumb if you mean it though, as i am not to familiar with the story. :/

all in all though this image keeps drawing me staring back at it even after browing da a couple of times so +fav. :))

a print version of this would be cool.. are you going to do one? :))
